Visitors to Versalifts SED stand can see a customised version of the companys specialised VST insulated platform range.

Giving extra heavy-duty rough terrain performance, the VST5000MHI insulated platform has been mounted on a Unimog U500 (14 tonnes GVW) with special adaptations to suit the customer, a utilities company and is an excellent machine for live line work.

The 17.2m working height platform features an optional manual handling jib and winch with a 454kg maximum lifting capacity. Maximum horizontal outreach with the winch is 9.4m, and 11.5m without. The safe working load (SWL) of the bucket is 200kg with the winch, 250kg without.

The VST5000MHI has a telescoping main boom with articulating riser and 180 degrees hydraulic platform rotation. It is insulated to ANSI A92.2 1992 Category C for up to 46kv.Lockers and fittings have been supplied to the customers individual specification, including storage compartments for specialised equipment such as insulating rods and insulating blankets.

Hydraulic tool outlets are fitted in the bucket as standard and also provided at ground level on the customers request.

The VST insulated platform range also includes the VST236I (13.4m w/h), VST240I (14.8m w/h) and VST5500i (18.9m w/h), all with telescopic boom with articulated riser. Versalift is soon to introduce a new, higher reach model VST6000MHI that has a working height of 20.3m

Other insulated models from Versalift include the VOE/VO range. This features three models ranging from 12.5m to 19.2m w/h, all with a two-section over-centre boom with 200-degree articulation and typically mounted on a 12.5 tonnes truck. Many other insulated platforms are available, predominantly designed for non line work such as the EST37EIH insulated platform with 13m w/h and an articulated-plus- telescopic boom arrangement.
